CU Gynecologic Oncology director shared thoughts about study released at the Society of Gynecologic Oncology meeting
Dr. Kian Behbakht talked with MedPage Today about a study that was presented at the annual Society of Gynecologic Oncology meeting. The study found that nausea, ileus (intestinal food blockage) and use of pain medication including opioids in major gynecologic surgery all declined significantly with no loss in pain relief among patients who received liposomal bupivacaine as part of a recovery protocol.
I thought the results were a major advance in the enhanced recovery of our surgical patients, allowing for better pain control and less use of epidural anesthesia.Dr. Kian Behbakht
