Doctor’s recommendation on how long foreplay should last
Dr. Saketh Guntupalli shared with Bustle why foreplay is the most important part of the sex act for women.
A 2004 study published in the Journal of Sex Research included research on 152 heterosexual couples regarding the amount of time they spent engaging in foreplay and intercourse, as well as the amount of time they wish they were. Despite a common belief that men aren’t so interested in foreplay, this study proves otherwise. In fact, both men and women say they want foreplay to last about the same amount of time at 18 and 19 minutes. But as research found, foreplay typically lasts about 11 minutes for women and 13 minutes for men.
During foreplay, we release hormones that arouse our desire for an intimate connection. That heightened desire can intensify our satisfaction.

Keeping birth control effective while traveling
Dr. Saketh Guntupalli talked with Popsugar about tips and tricks to make sure birth control doesn’t miss a beat while women travel.
Bustle writes that when we’re traveling, we may worry about sunburns or lost luggage, but an unplanned pregnancy isn’t always at the forefront of our concerns. But with changing time zones and our sleep schedule flipped upside down, a lot of other parts of our lives we do not consider sometimes get thrown off balance.
While abroad many people are enjoying new sights and sounds, this can place birth control on the back burner and can lead to unintended pregnancies when women return home. Try to stay on schedule and remember to take pills each day. Use of IUDs, implantable devices, and estrogen rings can help women with these issues.
