How to be intimate without a vagina
After sharing her story in Dr. Saketh Guntupalli‘s book, Sex and Cancer, patient of the University of Colorado Gynecologic Oncology department Anne Shelley shared her story of her ovarian cancer with Women’s Health Magazine. She ended up having a total pelvic exenteration that completely removed her urinary system, gastrointestinal system and vagina. After the surgery she didn’t think she would ever feel sexy again, but that is no longer the case.
My fight with cancer has taught me to never take anything for granted. But it’s also shown me that intimacy is about so much more than sex.
